The safety stirrup consists of a U-shaped upper part and a lower part which is connected to the latter in an articulated manner and is designed to be wider than the upper part. The upper part has two legs of the same length. At the end regions of these legs, it is connected in an articulated manner to the lower part. The pivoting lines of these two articulated connections extend in this case in the longitudinal direction of the lower part.
