PURPOSE:To increase the force required for making D-2 shift to an extent which is equal to or less than a specific % from the force required for making N-D shift, by setting the inclination of the section from the D (drive) position of a detent lever to the 2 position more steeply than the inclination of the section from the N (neutral) position to the D position. CONSTITUTION:A detent mechanism 3 has a plate-like shape which is fixed to one end of a shift lever shaft 21 and makes rotation around the shaft 21, and, at the outer periphery which is the acting margin of the mechanism 3, notches p, r, n, d, s, and l corresponding to the setting position P, R, N, D, S, and L of a shift lever are continuously installed. The inclination 37 of the section at the notch (d) side between the notches (d) and (s) of a detent lever 31 is set more steeply than the inclined line 39 of the section at the notch (n) side between the notches (n) and (d) and, therefore, force which is 15-50% stronger than the force required for shifting the shift lever from the N position to the D position, is required when the shift lever is moved from the D position to the S position. As a result, wrong shifting of the shift lever from the N position to the S position through the D position can be prevented, because a considerable reaction can be felt before the shift lever moves from the D position to the S position. |
