Method and apparatus for electrophotographically producing high quality reproductions which contain different content types using an original O1 having reflective continuous-tone portions C and non-reflective background portions B. A photoconductor image sector is subjected to a reflective exposure of portion C selected for good tone-scale reproduction of continuous-tone image portions and to a high-contrast transmission of portion B. Photoconductor background areas B, which border continuous-tone image portions C, are exposed to a discharge level below the system's development level. |
