NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula 1 [R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, lower alkenyl, (halogen-substituted) phenyl, etc.; R3 is lower alkyl; X is O or S] and its salt. EXAMPLE:1-[N-Phenylthiocarbamoyl-L-alanyl]-L-proline. USE:It has angiotensinase-inhibiting action and is useful as a hypotensor. PREPARATION:The compound of formula 1 can be prepared by reacting the isocyanate or isothiocyanate of formula 2 with the amine or amine hydrochloride of formula 3 in the presence of a base such as NaOH in a solvent such as methanol, usually at about 0-100 deg.C for about 2-20hr.
