PURPOSE:An agent, containing a specific nitrobenzoic acid amide derivative, and capable of enhancing remarkably the antitumor effect thereof by using an antitumor agent together therewith. CONSTITUTION:An agent for enhancing antitumor effect containing a compound of formula I [A is (CH2)xNH(CH2)y or (CH2)xNH(CH2)yNH(CH2)z; n is 1 or 2; x, y and z are 2-4] or an acid addition salt thereof, e.g. N<1>,N<8>-bis(4-nitrobenzoyl) spermidine, as an active constituent. The weight ratio between the compound of formula I and an antitumor agent to be used is (0.5-5):1 for endoxan or 5-fluorouracil and (10-100):1 for anthracycline or mitomycin. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a nitrobenzoic acid of formula II with a polyamine to formula III.
