The invention relates to a gas filter for deodorizing intestinal gases (flatulence) in humans, who have had a colostomy - that is an intestinal opening in the abdominal wall artificially made by surgical intervention. In contrast to earlier filters, the present filter is characterized by a high content of absorbent material, surrounded and held together by a hardened plastic dispersion, which ensures that the gas is forced evenly through the entire absorbent mass of the filter - and not through channels formed between the walls and material or channels inside the material itself. The preferred filter element, which is welded internally to the individual colostomy bag, has the form of a "flat eraser" (Figure 4), in which the gas flows into one "end" and out through a hole in the top at the opposite end. <IMAGE>
