PURPOSE:To obtain a clear liquid by separating a filtrate chamber of a vacuum dewatering drum into an outside filtrate chamber at both ends of the drum and a central filtrate chamber to take out separately a turbid filtrate sucked at the end parts of the outer circumference of the drum and a clean filtrate sucked at the central part. CONSTITUTION:Outside partition members 11 and 11' are set to both ends of the outer circumferential surface of a vacuum dewatering drum 10, and inside partition members 12 and 12' are set to both ends of the drum 10 at the inner side of the setting position of the outer partition members. With these partition members, a filtrate chamber constituting the drum is separated into an outside filtrate chamber R1 and a central filtrate chamber R2. Accordingly, the pressure of each filtrate chamber R1 and R2 is reduced by operating a vacuum pump, and the polluted water in a slurry tank is filtered through an endless filter cloth 14, and sucked into the filtrate chambers R1 and R2. At this time, sludge is sucked into the outside filtrate chamber R1 from a contacting part of the outer circumferential surface of the outside partition member 11 and the end part of the endless filter cloth 14, and the sludge concn. of the filtrate is increased. However the filtrate in the central filtrate chamber R2 is clarified by passing through the filter cloth 14, and both filtrates are collected separately in filtrate pipes 15 and 19.
