PURPOSE:To obtain a ptisan, having the original deliciousness thereof, and favorable for health, by incorporating a residuum of a rhizome of a ginger after extracting an essential oil component therefrom with roasted and pulverized barley. or wheat. CONSTITUTION:A rhizome of a ginger is pressed to extract 15-30wt% essential oil component, and the resultant residuum is completely dried with hot air at about 80-100 deg.C for required about 3hr and then pulverized to give powdery dried ginger having about 0.05-0.5mm. particle diameter distribution range. 5- 15wt% resultant powdery dried ginger is then homogeneously incorporated with roasted and pulverized barley or wheat for drinking use. Generally, barley is used as the barley or wheat, but adlay may be used. The resultant ptisan has improved effect as follows: The ptisan assumes the original flavor thereof, further moderate sharp taste component of the ginger, the taste and flavor meeting the modern taste and also a refreshing feeling. In addition to the nutriment of the ptisan, the tonic action on the stomach and intestines of the ginger is obtained.
