PURPOSE:To decrease the thickness of a box body contg. an electromagnetic stirrer by feeding cooling water to a cooler of the electromagnetic stirrer in a closed loop through a heat exchanger and making the pressure in the closed loop lower than the pressure of the outside cooling water of the heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:The cooling water fed forcibly by a pump 6 is cooled by outside cooling water 7a in a heat exchanger 7 and enters the inside of a box body 2 through a strainer 8 and a feed port 2a to cool an iron core 3 and a coil 4, thus shutting off the heat radiated from a casing 5 thereby resulting in rise of the temp. The heated-up cooling water returns through a drain port 2b to the pump 6. The cooling water circulates in the closed loop. Thus the cooling water circulates always in a clean condition. The pressure in the closed loop in this state can be maintained lower than the pressure of the outside cooling water of the heat exchanger 7, by which the thickness of the body 2 is decreased, the stirring performance is improved and the longer life is maintained. |
