DETECTION OF POLYMERIZATION RATE OF POLYESTER OLIGOMER

PURPOSE:To detect the oilgomer polymerization rate in an ester exchange reaction product quickly and accurately and continuously by measuring electrical conductivity or electrical quantities related thereto. CONSTITUTION:This method can be applied to the ester exchange reaction in which the finally obtained ethylene-terephthalate unit in polyester is to be more than 80%. Two electrodes are inserted into a reaction product which contains a catalyzer and the like. A suitable voltage is applied between the terminals and a current value is read. A gauge line is previously made and a specific viscosity is calculated as an index representing the oilgomer polymerization rate. The voltage applied between electrodes is preferably AC and the current must be not more than 1A.
