PURPOSE:To improve the adhesive strength of a mask to a gel substrate and to obtain an optical circuit of synthetic resin by subjecting an incompletely polymerized transparent synthetic resin substrate to a specified treatment after impregnating a monomer forming a polymer which is different from the substrate in refractive index into the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A monomer Ma forming a network polymer Pa with a refractive index Na is polymerized in frames 18, 19 to form a transparent gel substrate 17. A liq. phase or vapor phase monomer Mb forming a polymer Pb with a refractive index Nb is brought into contact with the surface of the substrate 17 to diffuse the monomer Mb from the whole surface of the substrate 17. A light shielding mask 20 is placed on the surface of the substrate 17, and light is irradiated to form a cured part 23. The monomer Mb is removed through a groove 21, and the resulting concn. distribution of the monomer Mb is fixed by completing polymn. The surface is then polished to obtain an optical circuit 24 of transparent synthetic resin having a slender light guide path 22. |
