PURPOSE:The titled composition, obtained by dissolving an aromatic polyamic acid obtained from a specific tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (derivative) and an aromatic amine in an organic polar solvent, suitable for insulating coating materials, and capable of giving films having improved heat resistance and insulating properties, etc. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamic acid solution composition obtained by dissolving 5-40wt% aromatic polyamic acid, perpared by polymerizing (A) an acid component containing (i) 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (derivative) and (ii) 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (derivative) at (30/70)-(75/25) molar ratio, said compounds (i) and (ii) being in an amounts of 80mo% or more in the total acid component and (B) an aromatic amine, preferably 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether, in equimolar amounts, and having 0.1-1.5 [30 deg.C, 0.5g/dl(N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone)] in an organic polar solvent.
