The method involves pressing a housing part (1) until a flange surface (11) stops on a flange surface (52) over a projection (6) in a housing part (5), where the housing parts are provided as sheet metal molded parts. An annular space is formed for a vibration damper ring (2) using the housing parts. Locking of the housing part (1) is made by a groove in the housing part (5). A socket (31) is pressed into a bore (3) for maintaining a contact pressure at the flange surfaces. A recess is provided for supporting the flange surface (52) at a front side of a crankshaft.
