PURPOSE:To make it possible to smoothly recover ink discharged from a nozzle, by changing the internal pressure of an ink recovery cartridge when initial filling is performed and air bubbles are exhausted. CONSTITUTION:A discharged ink recovery cartridge C is constituted so as to integrally mount an ink supply cartridge B on one opening part 7 of an upper lid 6 through an elastomer membrane 11 while attaching an air emitting valve 12 of low fluid resistance to the other opening part thereof in a freely openable and closable manner. When a press rod 22 is pressed down against a spring 23, the elastomer membrane 11 corresponding to the intermediate part of the cartridge A is downwardly pressed and, therefore, air in the cartridge C is exhausted to the outside through the air emitting valve 12. In the next step, when the press rod 22 is released, the elastomer membrane 11 is self-returned while the air emitting valve 12 is closed to bring the interior of the cartridge C to negative pressure and the ink accumulated in a gutter opening part 18 is absorbed and recovered. |
