PURPOSE:To enable stable and rapid processing with a photographic developing composition of a specified pH value or above, to reduce the cost, and to improve the handleability by adding a developing agent, sulfite and an org. solvent without practically adding carbonate. CONSTITUTION:This photographic developing composition of >=11.5pH contains a developing agent, a compound represented by general formula I , >=0.3mol/l sulfite and an org. solvent. The composition does not practically contain carbonate, and it further contains a polyalkylene oxide compound and a compound represented by general formula II. An example of the compound represented by the formula I is 5-nitroindazole, 6-nitroindazole or an alkali metallic salt thereof, and two or more kinds of such compounds may be used. The concn. of the compound is 1mg-1g per 1l developing soln. The developing agent is properly selected among p-dihydroxybenzene developing agents known well in a photographic field. |
