A semiconductor light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve efficiency of light extraction through a semiconductor layer by forming the semiconductor layer including a pyramid shape on the light emitting structure. An active layer(130) is formed on a first conductive semiconductor layer(120). A second conductive semiconductor layer(140) is formed on the active layer. A semiconductor layer(145) includes a plurality of pyramid shapes on the second conductive semiconductor layer.
