PURPOSE:To permit to manufacture a tube without affecting to the other structures of the starter and receiving no restriction in function by a method wherein the tube, provided with helical spline engaging with a shaft on the inner diametral wall thereof, is made by an independent structure. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 4 is closed, a magnet switch 8 closes the contact thereof to conduct a starting motor 5, simultaneously, a rod 9 pushes out the shaft 3 which began to be rotated by the motor 5. Then, the rod compresses a spring 6 to engage with a tube 1 and advances a pinion 7 to mesh with a ring gear. The tube 1 is formed with a straight spline on the outer diametral surface thereof and is engaged with another tube 2 working as the inner race of a clutch to transmit the torque of the motor 5 to the shaft 3, engaged with the helical spline of inner diametral wall of the tube 1, through the tubes 2, 1. According to this method, the tube 1 may be independent and may be manufactured without affecting to the other structures and receiving no restriction in the function thereof. |
