发明名称 PRODUCTION OF CAPROLACTONE
摘要 PURPOSE:To produce caprolactone useful as a raw material of polymers and intermediate for organic syntheses, from an easily available raw material, in one step and high yield, by reacting adipoaldehyde-acid with hydrogen in vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst containing copper as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:Adipoaldehyde-acid obtained easily by the oxidation of cyclohexanone with oxygen is made to react with hydrogen in vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst containing copper as an essential component, preferably a multi-component catalyst containing copper and other elements especially chromium, manganese, barium, zinc, etc., thereby simultaneously proceeding the hydrogenation reaction and the cyclization reaction to produce caprolactone (6- or epsilon-caprolactone) at a low cost. The process does not necessitate the use of difficult to handle, hazardous and expensive peracid, and accordingly, does not produce a large amount of carboxylic acid as a by-product. The atomic ratio of copper to the other elements in the above multi-component catalyst is preferably 1 to 0.02-1.5.
