PURPOSE:To enable to correct a misprint easily and speedily, by a method wherein at the time of normal printing, a transfer ribbon is faced to a heating element, and thermal transfer printing is conducted, and at the time of correcting, a correction ribbon is faced to the heating element, and a misprinted part is covered up with a white ink. CONSTITUTION:In a normal transfer printing condition, a selecting cam 42 controlledly rotated by a selecting motor 38 controllingly lowers both a transfer cassette 26 and a correction cassette 28 to respective lowermost positions, a pawl 36 of a ribbon-driving shaft 30 is engaged with a take-up hub 26a of the transfer cassette 26, so that the rotation of the shaft 30 gives a take-up driving force to only the transfer ribbon 22 faced to the heating element 20, and a desired transfer printing action is achieved. On the other hand, when misprinting occurs, the motor 38 drives the cam 42 to rotate, thereby pushing both of the cassettes 26, 28 upward, resulting in that the correction ribbon 24 of the correction cassette 28 is faced to the heating element 20. Therefore, when a predetermined electrical signal is supplied to the heating element 20 in this condition, a white ink is applied to the misprinted image, whereby the misprint is speedily corrected by covering up with the white ink. |
