PURPOSE:To detect and discriminate between the pressure in a cylinder at its top dead point of compression and the maximum value of the pressure in the cylinder by combustion by providing the 2nd pressure detecting means which detects the maximum value of the pressure in a combustion room after a crank shaft rotates by a specific angle from the top dead point of compression. CONSTITUTION:A comparator 105 operates a maximum value detector 106 at the angle position (ATDC 10 deg.) where the crank shaft 5 rotates by 10 deg. from the top dead point TDC of compression. The maximum detector 106 detects the maximum value P2max of a pressure signal P1' of >=10 deg. ATDC and sends it to a memory 107. The memory 107 is stored with the value theta2max of a counter when the P2max is obtained. A comparator 108 outputs theta2max when theta2max exceeds the 10 deg. ATDC. A comparator 109 compares a reference rotation angle signal S2 with theta1max and theta2max when the signal rises, and outputs the larger signal as a rotation angle thetamax at which the pressure in the cylinder by combustion is maximum. Thus, the maximum pressure in the cylinder by compression and maximum pressure in the cylinder by combustion are discriminated and detected distinctively. |
