PURPOSE:To discriminate the contents of a picture signal, transmit a code signal as it is, and transmit picture information generated by a personal computer, etc., at a high speed by providing a switching means and a signal discrimination part. CONSTITUTION:An input part 23 as the switching means of a facsimile equipment 22 is connected to a coaxial cable 21 connected to the output terminal of a personal computer 13. A picture signal 24 of each scanning section outputted from this input part 23 is applied to the signal discrimination part 25 to discriminate on the format signal of the head part of picture data from the computer 13. Its decision signal 26 is inputted to the input part 23 to operate the switch means in the input part 23 by the decision signal 26, and a code signal 27 is transmitted from an MODEM16 to a communication circuit 17. Then, when a discrimination on a bit image signal is made, its picture signal 28 is compressed by a signal compression part 15 and sent out to a communication circuit 17 through the MODEM16, thereby transmitting the picture information generated by the computer 13 at a high speed. |
