<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has a high video characteristic, good durability and a less tendency to curling by providing a specific magnetic layer consisting of ferromagnetic metallic powder and a binder on a nonmagnetic base. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer consisting of ferromagnetic material powder of Fe, Fe-Ni, Fe-Ni-Co, etc. and a binder is formed on a nonmagnetic base. Powder having >=35m<2>/gr specific surface area and small particle sizes is used for the ferromagnetic metallic powder. The surface of the magnetic layer is smoothed to have <=0.04mum surface roughness thereby decreasing noise and increasing a CN ratio. The amt. of the remaining solvent in the magnetic layer is made >=30mg/cm<2> to smooth the surface of the magnetic layer. A magnetic recording medium which has a high video characteristic and good durability and a less tendency to curling is thus obtd.</p> |
