PREPARATION OF FORMED PIECE OF FIBER REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC POLYAMIDI-IMIDE RESIN

PURPOSE:To prevent reinforced fiber cloth from damages and to control easily the containing rate of reinforced fibers by using a composite substance composed of thermoplastic polyamidi-imide resin excellent in self shape holding properties and organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a molded shape of thermoplastic polyamidi-imide resin reinforced by a fiber cloth composed of long reinforcing fibers, a composition composed of the above-mentioned resin of 50-97wt% and organic solvent of 50-3wt% and the fiber cloth are laminated. Solvent is removed from a sheetlike laminate thus obtained by heating and compressing the above-mentioned laminate until the content of the organic solvent reaches 3wt% or less and the sheetlike substance obtained is heated and compressed into a sheetlike shape or a desired shape. A molded shape of fiber reinforced thermoplastic polyamidi-imide resin containing reinforced fibers of 5-70vol% and having excellent mechanical properties is obtained by such a method with extremely excellent productivity.
