PURPOSE:To decrease the waiting time for re-reading by reading a data block other than the data block during read when a reading error occurs during the reading of data block. CONSTITUTION:An input/output controller 12 is applied with head, final location information and number of records from a channel 10 and stored in a register 18. A deciding operation circuit 24 positions the head and stores the record location information accessed next, head location information of the next data block accessed in a minimum time, and further the head location information of the next data block to registers 22, 26 and 28. If an error occurs during read, the content of the register 28 is fed to the register 26 so as to update its content and the input/output controller 12 commands the positioning of the head of a magnetic disc device 14 based on this content. As a result, the next data block is read and transferred to the channel 10. |
