PURPOSE:A primer having good dryability and providing a beautiful high-gloss metallized surface, prepared by dispersing a copolymer comprising a (meth) acrylate of a fatty alcohol, a polymerizable unsaturated acid and an epoxy group-containing copolymerizable unsaturated compound. CONSTITUTION:A primer comprising an aqueous fine dispersion of a self-crosslinking polymer of a particle diameter of 0.01-0.1mu, which is a copolymer comprising (a) 98-80wt% (meth)-acrylate of a 1-12C fatty alcohol, (b) 1- 10wt% polymerizable unsaturated acid, and (c) 1-10wt% copolymerizable unsaturated compound having at least one epoxy group, other than components (a) and (b), wherein at least 30mol% of the unsaturated acid is in the form of an ammonium salt. Because of the presence of both the unsaturated acid and the epoxy groups, the above copolymer is rich in self-crosslinking property and can give a film of a high hardness and excellent flexibility. |
