Prodn. of ZSM-11 zeolite is carried by heating a mixt. contg sources of tetrabutylphosphonium (TBP) cations, Na cations, Al203 and Si02 until the zeolite crystallises, and opt. removing the TBP cations by base exchange. ZSM-11 is useful as a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst, e.g. for cracking. In an example, a soln. of 90g Na silicate (28.9% Si02) in 140g H20 was treated successively with a soln. of 11g TBP chloride in 152g H20, a soln. of 1g Na aluminate (30.0% Na20) in 28g H20, and a soln. of 9.9g H2SO4 (98%) in 38g H20. The mixt. was heated at 149 deg.C. for 88 hr. and the solids washed and dried to give a product of formula 0.66 (TBP)20:0.5 Na20:Al203:48Si02. |
