PURPOSE:To improve the adhesive property and surface strength and to prevent devitrification during development by forming a precoat layer contg. a graft copolymer prepd. by polymerizing a radical polymerizable monomer in the presence of a cellulose deriv. and a hydrophilic epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A precoat layer contg. a graft copolymer prepd. by polymerizing a radical polymerizable monomer in the presence of a cellulose deriv. and a hydrophilic epoxy compound such as ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether is formed on a support. Ester or amide of (meth)acrylic acid, an aromatic vinyl compound or the like is used as the radical polymerizable monomer. The graft copolymer is prepd. using 1-30wt% cellulose deriv. and 99-70wt% said monomer.
