The present invention relates to sails having at least one internal free volume with openings on the outside so that the air is not inert and unchanged there but that some of the streams of air, of the wind encountering the external faces of the sails, enter it, causing a low pressure, a pull and therefore an acceleration of the streams of air arriving behind them and, consequently, an increase in the effective force of the wind against the faces of the sails. A suction artificially forced by any mechanism often replaces or increases the admission and the natural circulation of the air in this volume. Other characteristics relate: to the design of this air circulation; to the number of volumes or corridors for internal air circulation (one, two, more than two); to the embodiments in flexible sails and in rigid sails; to the shapes and distribution of the locations of the admission and outlet orifices; to the locations and the shapes of the corridors; to the use of mechanical means for forced, even adjustable suction; to the combinations of these sails with one another and with conventional sails.
