Combined refrigerator and freezer unit

The combined refrigerator and freezer unit (10) uses a common refrigerating circuit (13) with a condenser (15) outside the cold box and a single compressor (14), and a 2/3 way magnetically operated valve (19). The valve may direct liq. working fluid to a first evaporator (16) in a normal refrigerator compartment (11) or a second evaporator (17) in the deep-freeze compartment (12). The valve and the compressor are also connected to a control system (22). Vapours from the refrigerator evaporator passes through a passage (18) into the freezer evaporator. It then passes through a further pipe (21) to the compressor, which passes it to the condensor. The control circuit has switches (24,25,26) connected to temp. sensors in the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
