PARKING BRAKE DEVICE FOR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To enable an efficient parking brake operation by adopting a parking brake device with a simplified structure in front wheels having a larger weight distribution in a front wheel drive vehicle. CONSTITUTION:An inner wheel 4a at the inboard end of a drive shaft 1 which is connected to a front wheel and an outer wheel 4b at the outboard end of a differential gear 2 which is connected to the engine side are connected by a universal joint comprising a holder 4c and balls 4d for power transmission. The peripheral surface of the outer wheel 4b is formed smoothly, and a brake band 5 for parking brake is arranged around it. In this manner, the front wheel parking brake device for a front wheel drive vehicle which is not affected by the steering operation is achieved.
