PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption in color, to miniaturize the device and to reduce a heating value by making the number of picture elements of a solid- state image sensor corresponding to each color separation optical image different from the clearance of color visibility of each color of a picture to be formed. CONSTITUTION:After a color original is irradiated by a light source such as halogen lamp, an optical image W passes through three color separation prism systems 16, 17, 18 comprising a dichroic mirror or the like and is separated into blue, green and red color separation optical images B, G, R. CCD 19, 20, 21 read B, G, R being blue, green and red color separation optical images B, G, R respectively. The number of picture elements of the CCD to obtain a picture signal for yellow component and having nearly the same area, i.e., the CCD19 for blue color separating optical image is 2240pcs. the number of picture elements of the CCD to obtain a picture signal for magenta component, i.e., the CCD20 for green color separation optical image is 3360pcs., the CCD to obtain a picture signal for cyan component, i.e., the CCD21 for red color separation optical image is 2655pcs. Then, the reduction in the optical power consumption at blue or red color separation and exposure is attained and the number of picture elements of the CCDs used is decreased. |
