PURPOSE:To obtain a transmission line with a small transmission loss by evacuating a hollow pipe having a lens and a mirror at both ends or by filling the pipe with an inert gas. CONSTITUTION:The ultraviolet light incidence part 2 and the ultraviolet light emergence part 3 of a hollow pipe 1 are provided with a lens, a mirror or a window using optical glass such as quartz, low-alkali borosilicate glass or calcium phosphate glass or a crystalline material such as LiF, CaF2, MgF2 or KCl. A window is set when incident or emergent ultraviolet light is passed as it is, a lens is set when the light is converged, and a mirror is set when the transmission direction of the emergent light is changed. When the incidence and emergence parts are airtightly fixed, an Al mirror 3 and a window or a lens 4 are attached. In the figure, U shows the transmission direction of ultraviolet light. The pipe 1 is evacuated or filled with an inert gas such as He, Ne, Ar, Kr or Xe.
