An endless fibre for optical transmission has (a) a 1st jacket, and (b) a 2nd jacket, with (c) a layer of lubricant between (a) and (b). The lubricant (c) is a viscous material with viscosity 50-500,000 cps at 25 deg.C, partic. an organic liq., e.g. a mineral oil or fat, a silicone oil or fat, an oil or fat contg. F, or a mixt. of an organic fluid with graphite or Mo powder. The 2nd jacket, (b), is esp. a resin with modulus of elasticity 100-3,000 kg/sq. mm, partic. nylon or polybutylene terephthalate (opt. reinforced with glass fibres).
