<p>The fabric comprises knitted crimped synthetic yarn of 70-300 denier, the stitches defining ground fabric with open areas of 1-100 microns, and also terry pile loops extending from the ground fabric and pref. of height 0.5-4 mm. and facing the opposite direction to fluid flow through the fabric. Pref. the fabric is tubular and circular-knit for forming into filter bags, the course density being 8-13 stitches per cm. - The pile loops are moved by fluid flow and tend to be self-cleaning, and the fabric is washable for repeated use.
