In the case of a storage shed for containers filled with heat-generating radioactive material, in which the containers (10) are arranged spaced apart in rows, and in order to set up natural draught cooling there are provided at least in one of two opposite shed walls (1, 3) air cooling inlets (5) above the shed floor (2), air cooling outlets (8), which are located below the inlets and connected thereto, for cooling air to flow out between the containers, and exhaust air outlets are provided for discharging air from the shed, the cooling air flowing through the rows of containers being deflected in the shed, and at least one transport aisle (11) parallel to the ventilation wall being provided in the container installation area, it is provided according to the invention that only one shed wall (1) is constructed as ventilation wall and the longitudinal transport aisle (17) is positioned on the other shed wall (2). It is preferable to provide an internal fitting (17; 20) in the region of each air cooling outlet (8) in order to influence the flow of cooling air. <IMAGE>
