The evaporator system of the unit is divided into at least two sections, which are associated with a normal cooling compartment and a freezing compartment, each of which is provided with a control switch controlled by a temperature sensor, the switch elements being interconnected such that they switch the current circuit of the refrigerating unit and/or a control element present in the refrigerating circuit, by means of which element one or more evaporator sections can each be switched temporarily into or out of the refrigerating circuit. To prevent excessive cooling in the normal cooling compartment (11), this is equipped with an additional control element (26), the switch elements of which are in series with the controller (24) monitoring the evaporator temperature of the normal cooling compartment (11).
