PURPOSE:To elongate effective length of spring and reduce dimensions of casing, by supporting free to rotate a ring with a peripheral groove on a pin mounted on a center point and casing of a pendulum and force-fitting a half-wound coil into the peripheral groove. CONSTITUTION:When a pedometer is mounted, for instance, on the waist, a step forward generates a vertical acceleration in a pendulum 8. By this acceleration, the pendulum 8 swings against a line spring 12, a permanent magnet 7 approaches a reed switch 9 and retards from it and so, at each step, the reed switch repeats an on-off cycle. The both ends of a line sring 12 are fixed in place in such a way that its coiled portion 12a is mounted in the peripheral groove 16 of the ring 17 without being disengaged by the effective length of spring L when the line spring is installed and approximately an angle of theta deg. of the squeeze-holding portion of the coiled portion 12a effects the effective length of the spring and a composite deformation at its spring curvature rho' and curvature of arc of line spring 12 contributes to the spring action and the casing can gain a distance (b) and thus a reduction of dimensions of the casing 11 in its direction of width becomes possible. |
