PURPOSE:To contrive to use only one drive source and thereby reduce cost, by a method wherein a feeding roller rotated when moving a printing head backwards is provided in connection with a drive source for moving a printing part, and the roller is used for taking up a ribbon. CONSTITUTION:When printing is conducted by moving a carrier 5b forward by a timing belt 16 driven by forward rotation of a motor 20, rotation of a pulley 18 is not transmitted to a driving gear G3 by a one-way clutch 24, but when the thermal head 11 is moved backward, the rotation of the pulley 18 is transmitted to the gear G3, and is transmitted to the feeding roller 9 through an idle gear G5 and a gear G4. Since the feeding roller 9 fitted to a lever plate 23 is brought into contact with the outer periphery of a carbon ribbon 10a on a take-up reel 22 by a spring 25, the ribbon 10a can be taken up by the rotation of the roller 9. |
