The invention relates to a photoelectronic sensing device, in particular for rim edge scanning of a moving web 11 in a web motion control device, having at least one light source 5 and a receiver part 6 aligned with the light source 5 and having at least one light-focusing element which is connected to a photoelement arrangement generating signals as a function of the received quantity of light. In known sensing devices of this type, concave mirrors, lenses or similar devices are used to focus the received light. The technical outlay for constructing the receiver part is exceptionally high. Nevertheless, the response of the known sensing devices is unsatisfactory and, moreover, the useful sensing range is too small for various applications. According to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided when the light-focusing element is a member, which as receiving part 6 is made from a plastic which is dyed in a fluorescing fashion and has light-collecting properties (LISA plastic), and has at least one light-entry surface and at least one light-exit surface.
