The present invention provides a filter for use in association with cigarette tobacco, wherein the filter contains, as active component, at least one non-toxic inorganic or organic salt of a compound of the general formula: H-S-X-SO3H in which X is a straight or branched alkylene radical containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and/or cysteine and/or acetylcysteine. The present invention also provides a cigarette and a cigarette holder comprising such a filter. |
