Vacuum clamping table for clamping workpieces

In a vacuum clamping table, suction heads are provided for clamping plate-shaped workpieces, which suction heads are arranged under corresponding table openings and can be lifted essentially up to the level of the workpiece-resting plane. To this end, the suction heads sit in groups on strip-shaped supports which are arranged under the table and for clamping a workpiece can be placed against the underside of the table by means of an adjusting device. Supporting forces on the top and underside of the table thereby come into effect in such a way as to be directed towards one another. The table construction can accordingly be of favourable design.
