PURPOSE:To measure easily oxygen flux during continuous casting by providing an oxygen concentration cell constituted around a zirconia solid soln. between the inside and outside walls of an immersion nozzle and calculating the flow rate of the air permeating the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A stabilized zirconia tube 2 of a pipe type which is open at one end, an Mo cermet electrode 5 and an Mo cerment pipe 8 are inserted into the wall of a nozzle 1 and are hermetically sealed and fixed by a sealant 7 in a way as to project slightly from the inside wall. A mixture composed of Cr and CrO3 is packed as a reference electrode 3 into the tube 2 and a Pt lead wire 4 is embedded therein and is connected to an electromotive force meter. On the other hand, a Cu wire is connected to the electrode 5 and a thermocouple 6 is embedded in the pipe 8 to measure temp. An oxygen concentration cell is formed between the reference electrode 3 consisting of the powder mixture composed of Cr and CrO3 and a packing material 9. The oxygen partial pressure in the nozzle 1 is measured from the electromotive force conforming to the difference in the oxygen concn. between the partial pressure of the gaseous O2 immersed through the tube 2 and the partial pressure of O2 on the outside of the nozzle 1. |
