The contactless device for detecting pointer position which is to be used to detect the pointer reading for a plurality of pointers is used, for example, to control in a manner accurate to the second striking works (strike movements) in striking clocks, electric contacts and other switch works (mechanisms) which are to be actuated in a temporal or spatial way. In the present invention in accordance with Figure 4, the pointer position is determined by sensor points on the dial and converted immediately into a control signal without electromechanical or mechanical means. Scanning is performed capacitively, and the sensor elements are produced without great outlay by vapour deposition or pressure on the dial. The sensor points are interrogated cyclically as a function of the operating state in various ways by a microcomputer programmed for the purpose. Strike-triggering signals are emitted at the output of the microcomputer by means of the program implemented. Only one galvanic or capacitive contact is required on the clockwork for all the pointers covered. Normal clockworks can be converted almost without change to clocks with striking chains and clocks in which the pointer reading is detected. The overall height of the clockworks can be kept low. <IMAGE>
