The invention relates to a platform for rail vehicles with a lower part, which rests on a track formation via a support element, with a top element which runs upwards at an angle to the track side and on the free end of which a covering girder is arranged, and with an essentially vertically running web element which, together with the top element, each form a wall of an escape tunnel open towards the track side. The aim of the invention is essentially to eliminate the problems which arise when cleaning the adjacent ballast bed with conventional track bed cleaning machines and to render ballast retention and blocking up the exposed ground unnecessary. This aim is essentially achieved in that the lower part (3) has a cross-sectionally Z-shaped profile, the support element (9) of which is arranged on the side of the web element (8) facing away from the track side (5) and rests on a concrete foundation (4) which ends with its longitudinal side (17) facing the track side (5) approximately at the level of the web element (8). <IMAGE>
