In a device for cleaning road surfaces or the like, in particular on a motor vehicle, a suction air nozzle is provided, which ends in a suction mouthpiece with all-round sealing edges which form sealing gaps with the road surface. The suction mouthpiece (13) at the same time forms, in order to improve the suction, a direct, stepless extension of the inlet (14) of the suction air nozzle (5) and, specifically, the front sealing edge (15) of the suction mouthpiece (13) is arranged on the underside (16) of a hanging flap (18) which is mounted in front of the suction air nozzle (5), pivotable about a transverse axis (17) and the spacing (a) of which from the suction air nozzle (5) is bridged by an elastic apron (19) fastened sealingly on both sides, and the rear sealing edge (20) is arranged on the first sealing lip (21) of a labyrinth seal (24) which is made of elastic material and is formed by a plurality of sealing lips (21, 22, 23). The apron (19) is curved in a flow-favourable manner and ensures an essentially constant transition to the inlet edge (25) of the suction air nozzle (5). <IMAGE>
