Fiber(i.e., animal fiber, vegetable fiber, polyester fiber, rayon fiber, polyamide fiber, or copper ammonium fiber) is prepd. in a solution of divalent copper ions and a reducing agent, which reduces the copper ions to monovalent copper ions, and a compd. which releases sulfur atoms or ions. The fiber is prepd. in a solution containing monovalent copper ions and heated to absorb the copper ions. Then, it is treated in its gas or liquid phase with a compd. that releases sulfur atoms or ions.
