In conventional systems, the collector pipes for the heat transfer medium extend underground at a horizontal distance from one another, which is disadvantageous owing to the fact that the pipes have to be laid individually in a labour-intensive and space-consuming manner and to the unacceptably high cost of retrofitting such earth collectors to existing houses. The earth collector according to the invention eliminates these disadvantages in that it is designed to be placed in the ground upright, its pipes (5) extending parallel to one another and being situated one above the other. The earth collector shown in the Figure as an example is preferably designed as a prefabricated grid element and contains return pipes (5b) and flow pipes (5a) which are arranged one above the other, are combined to form groups and which open out into the common deflecting distributing pipe (7) and in groups into the return distributing pipe (9) or the flow distributing pipe (8) respectively. The pipes (5), which are made of flexible plastic, are held by means of spacers (6). The earth collector illustrated is arranged upright in a trench, the latter having a mean width of about 50 cm and the pipes having a diameter of 2 cm.

|
