The invention relates to a method for the chaotic filming of documents which are provided with a code in each case allocated by a computer, the computer containing the code and if necessary other information items stored and the documents being filmed in unordered sequence by means of a camera, a pulse code being applied at the same time. In this method, the code is read on the document in each case supplied to the camera for filming and stored at least with respect to its computer address. The pulse codes exposed onto the film are continuously added together and the resultant frame address is added to the code stored at least with respect to its computer address and transferred to the computer, where it is stored together with the code and any further given information. In addition, a device for carrying out this method is proposed.
