Connecting rod and process for the manufacture thereof

A connecting rod and a process for the manufacture thereof are proposed, the connecting rod, with the exception of the bearing bushes, consisting of fibre-reinforced synthetic resin and being very simple in its construction and therefore economical in its manufacture. The core of this connecting rod is one-part and has a plurality of fibre layers, the fibres extending alternately in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the connecting rod and at an angle of +10 DEG to +30 DEG and -10 DEG to -30 DEG . A connecting rod of this type is preferably manufactured in such a manner that the core is manufactured by machining from a laminate sheet with the corresponding fibre orientations, coated with a suitable adhesive at the cut sides, bonded to the bearing bushes and inserted in a winding mould, that resin-impregnated glass or carbon fibre rovings are wound around bushes and core, and that resin and adhesive are precured and postcured at relatively high temperature after demoulding of the connecting rod. In the case of low pressure loading of the connecting rod, a core manufactured with the already finished contour and made of fibre-reinforced moulding compound can be used instead of the core with strictly oriented fibres. <IMAGE>
