PURPOSE:To prevent excessive electric charge from flowing reversely to a photodiode region by providing a potential setting means where a potential level of a floating diffusion region is set always lower than the potential barrier under an output gate. CONSTITUTION:A potential setting gate 27 is connected to the positive terminal of a DC power supply V2 and a drain region 28 is connected to an external positive setting power supply. The potential barrier of the potential setting gate 27 is set deeper than the potential barrier under the output gate 13. The potential barrier under a reset gate 14 is formed shallower than the potential barrier under the output gate 13. Then, even if excessive electric charge is generated, this is discharged via the potential barrier of the potential setting gate 27, the excessive electric charge is prevented from flowing reversely to the photodiode region 12. |
